From 7 to 10 July will be held in Cracow the 29th edition of ULICA – International Street Theatre Festival. This unique event has been organized since 1988 by KTO Theatre under the direction of Jerzy Zonia.

Four festival days of theatrical events will be dominated by Polish teams. This year edition is aiming to diagnose the state of Polish street art theater. There will also  be teams from abroad.

The festival will abound in chamber music performances, performances for children, large outdoor events, but also workshops and panel discussions. The audience will gather around the most beautiful performances on outdoor stages of Cracow (Main Market, Small Market, Szczepanski Square and – for the first time during  the ULICA – in the Podgorski Square). This year’s edition of the festival will be devoted to Polish streat theater. Its slogan is Polish Carnival.

The festival will start on the Main Market with a spectacle of KTO Theatre, inspired by the work of Nobel Prize winner José Saramago, Blind, monumental and marked by a powerful emotional charge performance without words, shows a society in crisis.

There will also be foreign teams. We will be able to admire an impressive dance group, Tango Sumo, from France, we will know the touching story told by the Spanish theater Markeliñe, see soaring stunts of French team Tac O Tac and an international group of Serious Clowns will  introduce us to the magical world of children’s imagination.

This year, for the first time the festival will have performances also in Podgorski Square, where Muzikanty group will show us the Walking silent cinema and Pinezka Theatre will show genuine clowning.

In addition, there will also be a number of accompanying events. Especially for fans of concerts will play Leo Jazz Ansamble. For the youngest viewers, every day at noon on Szczepanski Square will be presentations and fun, and for the others – meetings and discussions with directors and artists of street theater.
