On Saturday, January 23, in Cracow will be held the third demonstration of Committee for the Defense of Democracy (KOD). They will protest against the so-called Surveillance Act. On the same day demonstration will be held in Brzeszcze.
This is the third manifestation of KOD held in Cracow. In December the Main Market held a large demonstration in connection with changes in the Constitutional Court made by government of Law and Justice.
Another demonstration took place in 9th January in connection with changes in the public media which has already led to the replacement of management in Polish Television and Polish Radio. The manifestation was held at the Radio Krakow office.
On Saturday, 23 January, at 12.00 KOD is returning in the Main Market, this time to demonstrate against Surveillance Act. Protesters will meet at the monument of Adam Mickiewicz with the slogan “In defense of our freedom.” A similar demonstration will be held on Saturday at 12 Brzeszczach, which is the hometown of Prime Minister Beata Awl.
Members of Committee for the Defence of Democracy believe that the changes introduced by the government are threatening democracy. In December they protested in front of the Constitutional Court and in January they came out in defend free public media.
