A year before the youth European Championship Under-21, UEFA and the Football Association have announced that one of the semi-finals and the grand final will be played at the Cracovia stadium.
Championship Under-21 will be held under the motto “Stars today, Superstars tomorrow.” At the event will participate 12 representation. Teams will be devided in three groups and will be announced on 30 November. Then, at the Congress Centre ICE Cracow will be held the draw ceremony. Qualification for the Euro is still in progress.
“We are happy that at every moment we can organize a big event. Our country has developed and expanded. This is the second most important football event in Europe.” – said Zbigniew Boniek, president of the Polish Football Association.
On the occasion of the friendly match Lithuania – Poland before Euro 2016, to Cracow come authorities of Polish Football Association and the presidents of the six cities, which in 2017 will organize the Youth Euro (event will last from 16 to 30 June). Apart from Cracow, matches will take place in Bydgoszcz, Gdynia, Kielce, Lublin and Tychy.
“In 2012, we showed that we are prepared for this type of events. Since that time we have built many sports facilities and we had become one of the most recognizable cities in the world. Next year I invite you all to the stadium on Kałuży street.” – said Mayor of Cracow, Jacek Majchrowski.
“Thank you very much for welcoming me in Poland and for decideding to organize the championships under 21. This is the 21st edition of the event and, for the first time in history, 12 teams will take part in it. Many players who became stars, came from the Euro U21.”– highlighted Giorgio Marchetti, director of UEFA tournaments.
